Nothing is worse than coming home from a long day to find out that your AC isn’t working. Aside from making your home uncomfortable, leaks from your unit can cause damage to your home. What’s causing the leaks, and how can you prevent them in the first place?
If you’re using a mini-split air conditioning unit, you could find yourself in this situation. A mini-split AC unit is a ductless solution that connects components through conduits instead of ductwork. If you’re heating and cooling your home with this type of air conditioner, you likely have several units indoors.
What Causes Water to Leak from Split AC?
Whether your unit was installed recently or you’ve had it for several years, there are multiple reasons for why your air conditioner could be leaking.
- Blocked drainage pipe
- Multiple connections failing
- Poorly installed units
- Faulty components
While a blocked drainage pipe can be fixed with little to no hassle, most of these issues including faulty components like malfunctioning coils, cracked condensation pans, and broken fittings or pipes require a call to the professionals.
